HBO's adaptation of The Last of Us returned for a second season in April 2025, adapting the second half of the acclaimed video game The Last of Us Part II across seven episodes. Bella Ramsey returned as Ellie, joined by Kaitlyn Dever as Abby. The season is set in a devastated Seattle, five years after the events of Season 1.
A record-breaking season
The Last of Us Season 2 became one of Max's biggest shows, with the season finale drawing record viewership. Showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann planned the story across multiple seasons, with the remaining events of the game expected to be covered in a third season.
Season 3 confirmed
Max confirmed a third season in June 2025, with production continuing through 2026. Plot details remain under wraps, but the series is expected to complete the story of The Last of Us Part II.
